Belmond Villa San Michele is nestled on a hilltop in the area of Fiesole just outside Florence. With the city and the Arno valley laid out below it's a perfect base from which to explore the city. Ideal if you are travelling with a car, however the hotel has a courtesy shuttle bus which runs every 20 minutes during high season and once an hour in low season. The shuttle takes you to Piazza della Repubblica where you can begin to explore all of the attractions which Florence has to offer.

The Villa dates back to the 15th century, it's grand façade is attributed to the great Michelangelo. Originally a Renaissance monastery it is a large part of Italy's culture and is recognised as one of the country's finest boutique hotels. The Italian Gardens used to be tended by Franciscan monks, today it is the perfect area of wooded park and terraced lawns from which to relax on a lounger, sip a cocktail among the flowers or take a tour.
