5-minute walk from a Metro statio
The boutique hotel, Duquesa de Cardona, is in a 16th Century building that was originally a noble home. It was transformed into a boutique hotel with a total makeover in 2003. Located overlooking the yacht harbor, on the edge of the Gothic area, exploring Las Ramblas is an easy and enjoyable walk from the hotel.
The developer thought he would get in on the ground floor in what appeared to be an up and coming neighborhood, however this optimism was a bit premature. Two doors away there is still a grungy backpacker hostel. The fabulous views give some compensation as you can see across the Moll de la Fusta to Port Vell; the upper-level views are towards the Columbus monument and up the coast to Port Olympic.
Of course there is a charge for the luxurious guest rooms on the front with water views, but they are more romantic than some of the cupboard size rooms on the back facing towards El Born. Service is excellent with thoughtful touches.
