Know Before You Go

Keep aside half a day for a visit, which is not cheap but worth it.
Those not interested in the aquarium can go shopping at the adjacent mall.
Located in the harbor Port Vell, L’Aquarium is one of Europe’s biggest sea life centers. Home to 11,000 animals representing about 450 species in 35 aquariums you can see all sorts of Mediterranean and tropical sea life from as far off as the Red Sea, the Caribbean, and the Great Barrier Reef. One of the highlights of the aquarium is the 80 meter shark tunnel where various species of sharks including the white tip, bonnethead, black tip, and sandbar, swim around you along with other sea life such as sea horses, rays, and sunfish. If you have a valid diving certificate, you can even dive in the main tank with the sharks! For the youngsters, Explora, is a play and educational area with a host of activities. Another interactive zone, Planeta Aqua, is home to an Antarctic penguin family and tank of rays. Ready to say “hola” to the sharks?
