Medieval history meets stylish food and drink

Dating back to medieval times, Barcelona’s Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarter) features narrow winding roads and incredibly impressive yet haunting architecture. Extending from the southeast corner of Placa de Catalunya to the sea and tucked between La Ramblas and Via Laietana, this maze of narrow streets is one of Barcelona’s liveliest districts. Walking through the streets one can find plenty of fashionable restaurants, stylish bars, and pulsating clubs.

Lively night-time, along with La Ramblas

Contributing to the nightlife in the Gothic Quarter is its close proximity to La Ramblas. It is customary among the locals to meet with friends in one of several placas (plazas) before heading to dinner or the club. Of course not all the action happens at night.

Daytime in the Gothic Quarter

During the day visit Barcelona’s cathedral, Placa Sant Jaume a political hub, or some of Barcelona’s best surviving stretches of Roman walls. This district is a great place to wander around in, you never know what you’ll find!
